The National Association of Negro Musicians, Inc. (NANM) was founded in Chicago, Illinois on July 29, 1919.
The organization is supported by people of cultural ideas and music groups of high standards. All members of
NANM, Inc. are dedicated to the fine art of music and musical culture. Members are equally committed to
lending support and influence to one of the most powerful forces of spiritual, educational and cultural
development…Music.
Celebrating a history rich in tradition, NAMN continues to provide scholarships, performance opportunities and
African American cultural awareness to serious music students from middle school through graduate school.
